Baseball Training for Newton Athletes

Newton has no shortage of gyms. What it doesn’t have is a baseball-specific, strength-first development program with documented athlete arcs — and that’s why Newton families drive 20–25 minutes down I-95 to Parsons Sports Performance in Norwood, past a dozen closer options.

Why the drive is worth it

PSP isn’t a fitness class with a baseball logo. Every athlete trains on an individualized program in a semi-private setting, built from his own evaluation numbers, with arm care and recovery integrated into the same plan. The program’s job is to build the strength and rate of force development that produce velocity and exit velo — and then to prove it with re-testing.

Athletes like Gabe Malaret (Boston College ’25) put up an outfield velo arc of 89 to 94 mph and an exit velo arc of 96 to 107 mph on that system. In the Class of 2025, 100% of PSP athletes continued to collegiate athletics and 42% committed D1.

Newton North, Newton South, and club schedules

Newton athletes carry heavy academic and athletic calendars. Weekday sessions run late morning and after school, Saturdays until 1:00 PM, and training blocks are planned around the school season rather than against it.

Can’t make the drive every week?

PSP’s remote coaching delivers the same programming, progress tracking, and coach feedback anywhere. Plenty of athletes run hybrid schedules: in-facility during the off-season, remote programming with periodic in-person testing when the season compresses the calendar.

FAQs for Newton families

How often would my athlete need to come to Norwood?

That’s set at the evaluation based on his season, goals, and schedule — and remote programming can cover the days between in-facility sessions. Hybrid schedules are common for athletes coming from Newton.

Is there a remote option?

Yes. Remote coaching carries the full PSP programming, progress tracking, and coach feedback, and pairs well with periodic in-person evaluations and testing.

What makes PSP different from a gym closer to Newton?

Baseball specificity and proof. Programs are individualized from evaluation data, arm care is integrated, and results are re-tested and published — real athletes, real arcs, not marketing copy.
